VIOLETA
CHOUCIÑO VEIGA
(A Coruña, 1999) is a multimedia visual artist that works on nostalgia, identity and culture.
She usually works on the conceptual side, often using archives as a methodology, that have resulted in photography, video, screen printing and installation projects. Storytelling, narrativity and anecdotes are pivotal in her oeuvre, inspired mainly by her own homeland culture and household.
Have recently finished “The 5 tortillas my grandma gave birth to” artist book, her current practice is moving towards two new projects about sociolingüistics and found footage.
After graduating in Fine Arts Bachelor in Facultade de belas artes de Pontevedra (UVigo) in 2021, Violeta moves to Antwerp to continue her studies in Sint Lucas Antwerpen, where she studied both the Premaster and Master of Visual Arts in the Sociopolitical and Autonomous context respectively. She was awarded with the Visual and plastic arts grant from Deputación da Coruña in 2022, which allowed her to enlarge her personal project, shown lately in Agrupación Cultural Alexandre Bóveda (A Coruña) or Arttelex (Antwerpen).
Violeta is also a photographer, host of a podcast (Vio pensa en alto), and most recently an amateur dj and cook.
CV
Violeta considers herself a multimedia artist and allround creative storyteller based on the variety and multiplicity of the projects that she has faced through her active years as an artist.
Eventhough photography is the main technique she works with, she has touched every branch in the visual and fine arts, and trascends it even with music, linguistics and cooking projects.
